Sammy

Sammy formed HCCF in 2021 and, along with her husband Joe, runs the sanctuary from their home in Shropshire. Having spent her entire life around animals, she brings decades of experience with a wide range of species, including cats, dogs, horses, reptiles, birds, and small pets.

She has experience working in the veterinary field, a local zoo and holds a higher Diploma In animal care and psychology with distinction. Before HCCF she ran her own pet grooming business up until 2018, has trained and competed in agility with several of her dogs, and has experience with canine clinical massage, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy.

As a knowledgeable pet nutritionist she follows holistic protocols for all the animals in her care, and has direct experience in canine and feline cancers, congenital and trauma related disabilities, minor surgeries and is pet first aid trained.

Sammy has an extensive knowledge and practical experience in zoopharmacognosy (animal self selection) and herbal medicines, and being naturally intuitive with animals became an attuned Reiki master in 2018. She then went on to complete a course in animal psychic and telepathic communication, and is a keen crystal collector. She enjoys using energy healing and various holistic therapies on the animals in her life.

Sammy qualified through City and Guilds as a groomer in 2008 and ran her own mobile pet grooming business for 10 years specialising in aggressive/nervous dogs, and had a renowned reputation for her unique cat grooming service. Sadly she had to stop grooming due to an injury in 2018 and during a break from work she adopted her first special needs cat, Heidi.

During this time she studied Homeopathic Medicine and qualified with distinction as a Homeopathic Practitioner in 2019 and has since helped many animals using these natural medicines.

This abundance of knowledge and experience has given her the ability to help so many animals over the years and having had the pleasure of sharing her life with special needs cats, the creation of HCCF was based on a heartfelt desire to raise awareness of not only disabilities in cats, but to share the abundance of alternative wellness and healing methods that can help so many animals.
